Dining at Quay was a sublime experience. Nestled in Sydney’s harbor with panoramic views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, the setting alone is unforgettable. The service was impeccable—attentive, warm, and effortlessly refined. Each dish on the tasting menu was a masterpiece of creativity and precision, showcasing ingredients in ways both surprising and deeply satisfying. Quay doesn’t just serve food—it delivers an artful journey that lingers long after the final bite.

It was a journey of umami, complex flavors mostly not overly salted, some japanese touches with a good balance of flavors and textures. There was attention to color with an interesting minimalist theme in plating the dishes. Pictured duck dish and the little appetizer bites were stand outs. Service was attentive and friendly. Venue was nice, but entry was hard to find (take the lift beside James Squire) and unfortunately there was a giant cruise ship obscuring what would’ve been an outstanding view.

With stunning views of Opera House and harbour bridge, you could say that's enough reason to go. But the food! We went last night spurred by their announcement that with in just a couple of months, you won't be able to taste anything like this again. I could go on about the melt in the mouth scallops, delicious bombs of flavor in the amuse bouche or the most amazing truffle butter crumpets, but I'm wasting your time. What you need to do is find a booking... Not read more reviews. You better hurry....

It has been our Christmas lunch ritual for the past five years, and we couldn’t imagine celebrating the festive season anywhere else. It’s truly bittersweet knowing that Quay will be closing. While we understand Peter Gilmore’s decision, we can only hope something equally special will fill its iconic space. As always, the experience was exceptional. The food was exquisite, the service faultless, and the team ( from the attentive waitstaff to the knowledgeable sommelier ) made us feel warmly welcomed and well taken care of. Thank you to Quay and the entire team for giving us so many unforgettable memories. You will be dearly missed.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at this fine dining restaurant in Sydney. We chose the 5-course tasting menu and every dish was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and perfectly balanced. The service was exceptional from start to finish attentive, friendly and genuinely welcoming. It was one of those meals that feels special from the moment you sit down. Highly recommend!

My partner and I had the privilege of dining at Quay last night and it not only met all our expectations but simply blew them out of the water. Peter Gilmore is a true genius and every dish was perfect in presentation and taste. The service was excellent, very attentive without being obtrusive. The location of the restaurant is sublime, showcasing the world's most beautiful harbour in all its glory. If you have the opportunity to dine at Quay before it closes then don't hesitate.

A once in a lifetime experience, especially now that they’re closing. My partner and I took his mother here for her 70th birthday, and what a special experience it was. We were seated in the glass room with views across the harbour, and watched the light change with the sunset. There were flavours I’m not sure I’ll ever get to try again. Each of us loved something different. For me, it was the buffalo milk custard with the super chicken broth, and I was thrilled to finally try the snow egg, having left a lasting impression on my younger self when Peter Gilmore featured on Master Chef. It was everything I imagined and more. The service was good, we felt taken care of. Though, the heavy accents of the servers were difficult to understand over the hubbub. From what I could hear, their descriptions of the food differed slightly from the menu, so I’ll never know exactly what we had. They seemed a touch harried. As for drinks, the martini was the best I’ve had yet. So good, I had to have two. It was also no problem when they sent out the wrong martini, it was remade without a fuss. After dinner coffee was unexpectedly excellent too. The wine that was recommended to us complemented everything. Overall, an exceptional experience that I am truly glad to have and remember. I look forward to seeing what the next journey is for Peter Gilmore.

Great dining experience. All courses were delicious, the bone marrow noodles and snow egg were a standout. Staff were very professional, kind and helpful, they even walked upstairs and outside in the wind to take a group photo of us in front of the Opera House. Sad it’s the last time given they’re due to close, but so glad we got the chance to experience this gem.

Our first visit to Quay was everything we had hoped for, and more. From the moment we arrived, it felt like a truly special occasion. We began the evening by picking up a copy of Peter Gilmore’s From The Earth, a fitting start to what would unfold at the table. We kicked things off with the cocktail Thinking About Ceviche—bright, playful, and perfectly judged. The setting is, quite simply, breathtaking. With uninterrupted views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, the dining room offers one of the most extraordinary backdrops in the world, especially as the light shifts over the harbour. It’s a view that never distracts from the meal, it adds to it. We enjoyed the seven-course menu, complemented by two perfect, complimentary amuse-bouches - an unexpected and generous touch. Every course was exceptional: thoughtful, beautifully balanced, and executed with absolute precision. There wasn’t a single weak moment across the entire experience. The wine list was equally impressive - extensive, carefully curated, and clearly designed to match the ambition of the food. Service throughout the evening was impeccable: warm, attentive, and effortlessly professional. A particularly lovely detail was being presented with both the original and final menus to take home - a thoughtful gesture that perfectly captured Quay’s attention to detail. Knowing that Quay will close in February 2026 made the experience bittersweet. We’re so grateful to have finally experienced it. A true Sydney icon, and an unforgettable evening from start to finish.
